Welcome to Physics! You are now about to take a fantastic and wonderful journey into the mathematical world of science. The guiding principles behind our journey relate to the Next Generation Science Standards. It is these standards that will serve as the guidelines and expectations of what you are to learn as a student of Physics.
Physics is one of the natural sciences and is part of the physical sciences. It is one of the basic of all the sciences and focuses on the nature of basic things such as motion, forces, energy, matter, heat, sound, light, and the composition of atoms. Physics supports chemistry, which in turn supports biology. The ideas of physics are the foundation to understanding these more complicated sciences. You will understand other sciences much better after learning physics.
In this course you will utilize proven methods of science and theories through research and laboratory and mathematical practice.
We will be utilizing two main secondary sources to study the general concepts of physics. One will be a physics textbook and the other main resource will be from a website featuring physics tutorials located at www.physicsclassrom.com/class. Students will find many resources and sources of information from each of these resources. Students are encouraged to read text information provided from the Physics Classroom. Students are further encouraged to explore the many resources this website has to offer from home for additional resources and practice.
